Nextivity aims to boost weak indoor cellular signals

San Diego’s Nextivity thinks it has found a solution to the thorny problem of poor indoor cellular coverage by a reworking a renegade technology to make it mainstream. The 60-employee firm has developed Cel-Fi signal boosters, which include the company’s proprietary semiconductors designed to play nice with nearby cellular base stations in the macro wireless network. Signal boosters haven’t been a favorite technology for wireless operators, said Werner Sievers, chief executive of Nextivity.
