The Obsessed Booster Gains a Competitive Advantage


We enjoy competition. That’s what drives us to innovate, and create game-changing solutions that not only enable us to stay ahead of the curve, but put us miles ahead of it. In fact, innovation has been a cornerstone of our strategy since launching the industry’s first smart signal booster a few years ago. This strategy has been richly rewarded over the last couple of months with the Most Innovative New Product Award from CONNECT and the Mobility Award at CES.

When new signal boosters are introduced by third party companies, it helps to stimulate the market for all. These launches also remind us that we continue to be leaders in our industry for some very good reasons, which we’ve outlined below.

FCC Regulations and the Impact on Booster Gain: Any booster sold after March 1st will have to comply with the new FCC Part 20 Rules that come into effect for consumer signal boosters being used on licensed spectrum. These regulations, which are designed to combat the issue of interference caused by consumer boosters on carrier networks, address two specific types of signal boosters: wide-band boosters and provider-specific (or carrier-specific) boosters.

  • Wide-band boosters are signal boosters that can work with any carrier. Their system gain limit has been capped at 70dB (for 700Mhz) and 72dB (for 1.7/2.1Ghz) to help minimize the risk of interference. Wide-band boosters typically use analog amplifiers.
  • Carrier-specific boosters are signal boosters designed to work with one carrier and can have system gains of up to 100dB. Unlike wide-band boosters, carrier-specific boosters are unlikely to cause any interference, and as a result can reach a much higher system gain.What about Cel-Fi?
  • Cel-Fi is a carrier-specific booster: It is designed for and authorized by specific carriers (139 carriers in 70 countries, including T-Mobile and AT&T). To date, Cel-Fi is the only carrier-specific booster available in the U.S., With Cel-Fi, there’s no risk of signal interference, so you get a clean, optimized signal that won’t give you or your carrier grief. As highlighted above, Cel-Fi has a system gain of 100db, which is at least 1,000 times higher than the best multi-carrier wide-band boosters. This increased system gain gives you better coverage (i.e. 4 to 5 bars of coverage for your phone even if the carrier signal is very weak) in a much larger area (up to 13,000 sq ft in an open space).
  • Cel-Fi is packed with advanced technology: Since our booster has a proprietary developed processor core with built-in algorithms which dynamically and independently adapt to the environment in microsecond intervals, Cel-Fi is totally obsessed about seeking out ways to deliver optimized signal coverage. This is a big differentiator for us.
  • Delivering coverage for the Internet of Things (IoT): Without universal connectivity, the IoT has no relevance or meaning. Universal connectivity demands universal coverage, and that’s Cel-Fi’s obsession!
  • Wireless in, wireless out: Cel-Fi is also the only all-wireless smart signal booster around, and that translates into a lot of important things you might not think about at first: insanely easy installation, no external antennas, no software configuration, and no holes to drill or cables to install. We’re 100% plug and play, 100% peace of mind.

What does this mean for customers? If you are purchasing a booster that supports multiple carriers, the limited gain means that you can only boost your signal in one room of your home, and must install an outdoor antenna and cables. With an all-digital, carrier-specific Cel-Fi smart signal booster however, there is no need for installation, and you can expect coverage throughout your home or office, and complete peace of mind.
