When it comes to technology, a premium price often delivers more bang for your buck. While we know that’s not always the case, Cel-Fi is definitely one of those solutions where you get significantly greater value.

Here’s why. FCC-approved analog (wideband) boosters provide no more than 70dB (decibels) of gain. Contrast this to the all-digital, carrier-specific Cel-Fi Smart Signal Booster®, which is authorized by regulators to deliver 100dB of gain – which is 1,000 times greater than the industry average. With the higher gain, Cel-Fi can cover a significantly larger area of indoor space (up to 15,000 sq. ft.) without risk of interference on the carrier network.

For non-engineers out there, you’re probably wondering where that calculation of 1,000 came from. In simple terms, a booster will boost the cellular signal by a certain number of decibels. A 10dB change corresponds to a change in power by a factor of 10 – so 100dB is 1000X (10X10X10) more powerful than 70dB.

The bottom line? Cel-Fi is the most powerful booster in its class because it can boost a signal by 100dB versus 70dB for its closest competitor. That means it can do a better job of overcoming the challenges that come with a weaker cellular signal (poor voice quality, slower data, dropped calls, etc.).

Now for the dollars and cents. Let’s look at a simple comparison.

  • The cost per dB of gain for a $569 wideband booster delivering 65dB of gain is $8.75.
  • A $575 Cel-Fi DUO delivers 100dB of gain, which translates into a cost of $5.75 per dB of gain.
  • Cel-Fi PRO at $695 comes in at $6.95 per gain of dB.

Add that to the fact that with Cel-Fi you don’t need any cables, external antenna, or complicated installation. (With other solutions however, most installers typically budget the same costs for antennas, coax cable, and install as for the equipment).

So when you’re out there looking for a booster, take the time to consider your options. There’s a lot more that goes with a price tag than you might think.
